Overview

The College of Human Sciences is an academic home that is intellectually stimulating, friendly and supportive. At CHS@AU, we believe faculty mentoring and advising, balanced with the use of current web-based technologies, are key to helping students discover and develop their academic, professional, and personal potential. From the time students enter the College, they are given the opportunity to develop a long-term relationship with an academic advisor. Students are encouraged to work closely with their advisors on a regular basis for schedule planning, tracking progress toward graduation, and tailoring their academic programs to meet individual and career aspirations.

Much of the value of an Auburn education lies in experiences that go beyond academics, including positive relationships established with others. Faculty mentors and advisors assist majors in identifying a wide range of enrichment experiences to facilitate personal and professional development. For example, CHS@AU students are strongly encouraged to participate in volunteer service projects, undergraduate research, study abroad, student organizations, and on-campus lectures and seminars that will prepare them for internships, job placements, and/or graduate school. Through such involvement, students learn how to initiate change skillfully, contribute thoughtfully, and lead effectively.

The College of Human Sciences truly is a place that challenges students academically and prepares them for exciting, rewarding careers in the global marketplace. In fact, career tracking data reveal that Human Sciences graduates are extremely successful in the workforce. Employers compete vigorously for our majors, with career opportunities as varied and dynamic as the Human Sciences curricula.

Auburn University may appear similar to other large universities in its scope of academics, programs, and student body. Yet, in person, the College of Human Sciences and its faculty and students provide a stimulating environment that promotes intellectual discovery, personal growth, and a strong sense of community. Join us and you will immediately sense an air of excitement and a climate of friendliness that characterizes the entire College.
