Watch as the construction of the Barbara Drummond Thorne Academic and Research Facility takes place. As the future home to the College of Human Sciences, this new facilty will be a four-story, 138,000-square-foot building located at the northeast corner of Mell Street and Roosevelt Drive. It will house teaching spaces, faculty research facilities, laboratories, classrooms, offices and common areas.
As the Barbara Drummond Thorne Academic and Research Facility takes shape, alumni and friends have meaningful opportunities to help build its legacy. As the final beam was placed atop the Barbara Drummond Thorne Academic and Research Facility on Friday, Sept. 18, the College of Human Sciences took another step forward in preparing to move into its new academic home prior to the fall of 2027 — with 300 guests attending a special topping-out event along the Mell Street corridor on the campus of Auburn University.
Auburn's Phygital Design Lab is blending art and technology to bring centuries-old history to life. Using AI, 3D printing, digital modeling and augmented reality, students are reimagining everything from Baroque frescos to a lost Italian carriage while making art more interactive, accessible and engaging.
In its 33rd year honoring individuals, partnerships and organizations that significantly impact quality of life and change the world, the College of Human Sciences' annual International Quality of Life Awards (IQLA) returns to New York City to honor the world's largest wish-granting organization and a world renowned chef/proprietor with a special celebration inside the iconic Rainbow Room on the 65th floor of the Rockefeller Center on Monday, Dec. 7.
