Over the years, the Advisory Boards of CHS@AU have helped infuse our curricula with vital world-class perspectives and information via their professional and personal expertise and experiences. Their efforts on behalf of our faculty and students serve to broaden our knowledge about the challenges of today’s world and provide invaluable encouragement, opportunities, and rewards for global thinking and "doing." Ongoing interaction with our advisory boards helps keep our students, faculty, and programs relevant, visionary, and cutting-edge.

Our International Board of Advisors is comprised of former foreign service ambassadors as well as business and public sector professionals representative of six countries, including the Philippines, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. Other U.S. representatives travel the globe, most of whom have lived and work overseas. These advisors provide guidance and leadership in the international development of our faculty and students. Efforts by the International Advisory Board help to establish academic, business, and government partnerships that embrace the mission of Human Sciences and advance it within a global context.

In 1994, the International Board of Advisors launched the International Quality of Life Awards in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Year of the Family. The Awards recognize outstanding individuals in the public and private sectors who enhance the quality of life locally and around the world. Recent recipients have included Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity International (2000), Arthur C. Martinez, Chairman and CEO, Sears, Roebuck and Co. (1999), and Desmond M. Tutu of South Africa (1998).

The Dean's Development Board was created in 1987. This Board involves prominent executives and outstanding alumni and advocates who offer diverse experiences from around the world in the many industries touched by CHS@AU. Board members serve an invaluable role as advisors on specific curricular issues and share their vision for the long-term direction of our academic programs. We consider ourselves fortunate to have their guidance and expertise in the face of a rapidly changing social and economic climate.

CHS@AU launched the Women's Philanthropy Board in 2002 as a way of educating female alumni and friends to effect change and enhance quality of life through their leadership and financial giving. The group is spearheaded by a steering committee of outstanding female leaders in business/industry, education, and goverment who are committed to inspiring confidence in women and empowering them to make a difference in the world by fulfilling their philanthropic potential.
