Spring Hunger Week 2009

Help the College of Business sub-Committee of 19 meet their goal of collecting 2,000 pounds of food for the East Alabama Food Bank. "I Sacked Hunger!" will be take place every day this week from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Pick up your brown paper bags (donated by Winn Dixie) from a volunteer in Lowder Business building, fill it with canned goods/ non-perishable items to donate to the East Alabama Food Bank, and return your donations to the blue food bank barrels located by the parking lot doors on the ground floor of Lowder. Monetary donations for the East Alabama Food Bank will also be collected.
Volunteers from the College of Business will also be sponsoring a cell phone recycling drive to turn used phones into loans through implementing microfinance strategies. The loans are then given to the poor to eradicate poverty (learn more at
turnphonesintoloans.org). Bring your old cell phones to the ground floor of Lowder or 210 Spidle Hall.
The College of Human Sciences sub-Committee of 19 will host "Blooming Change: Plant a Seed for a Child in Need." Join CHS volunteers on the main Haley Center concourse Tuesday - Thursday from 10:00am - 2:00pm and purchase your spring planting kit for $3 -- all donations to benefit the UFWH/UN World Food Programme War on Hunger.
The College of Education sub-Committee of 19 will join Eddie the Hunger Tiger in the Auburn University Bookstore on Wednesday, April 8, from 8:00am - 3:00pm collecting monetary donations for the UFWH/UN World Food Programme War on Hunger.
Douglas Coutts, Distinguished Visiting Professor from the United Nations World Food Programme, will present the closing keynote at the 6th annual Auburn University Undergraduate Research Forum. The presentation, titled "Feeding the Hungry: Applied Research in Action" will take place in the Forestry building at 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 and is open to the public.

The Committee of 19 will end Spring Hunger Week at Kroger in Tiger Town collecting non-perishable food items for the East Alabama Food Bank from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
