Dr. El-Sheikh has been teaching and conducting research at Auburn
University since 1990 and is currently an Alumni Professor with
the College of Human Sciences in the Human Development and Family
Studies Department. |
Currently, she is the primary investigator for two on-going
research projects that focus on the effects of marital conflict
and violence and their influence on many facets of child
development and well-being.
* One ongoing research project, funded by the National
Institutes of Health, examines the relationship between
different levels of marital conflict and violence and their
relationship with children's cognitive, academic, emotional
and social development.
* The second research project, funded by the Alabama
Extension Services and the National Science foundation,
focuses on investigating the role that family stress plays
in children's sleep patterns and immune system functioning.
