PROGRAM CALENDAR FY 2010

February 8-12, 2010 Committee meets to select proposals
February 26, 2010 Awardee(s) notified by Email

Proposal Development

  • Approximately $3,500 is available for competitive distribution to fund this program in FY 2010
    • Malone Zallen Graduate Research Fellowship: $2,500
    • Nutrition and Food Science Graduate Research Award: $1,000
  • Students may submit only one application. This will be considered for both the above fellowships
  • Proposals are solicited from NUFS graduate students to fund research in the following disciplines: nutrition, food science, and hotel & restaurant management
  • The objective of this program is to encourage innovative research, enhance critical thinking, and develop grant writing skills
  • Proposals need to be developed with the concurrence of the graduate student’s Major Professor
  • Proposals will not be accepted from individuals who have previously held a Competitive Graduate Research Fellowships endowment

Approximately $3,500 is available for competitive distribution to fund this program in FY 2010

Proposal Format

The required format for the proposal is given below:

  1. Margin: 1 inch - top, bottom, left, right
  2. Minimum font size - 11 points
  3. Double spaced, single sided 8.5 x 11 inch pages
  4. Limited to a maximum of three (3) pages excluding the cover page and budget page

The proposal text should contain the following items:

  1. Hypothesis
  2. Goals and objectives
  3. Approach/methods
  4. Anticipated results
  5. Significance
  6. Time-frame

Budget

Budget: one-half to one page simple budget; Budgets shall not include indirect costs.

Checklist of items that need to be submitted:

  1. Cover Page – 1 page limit with required signatures (available for download PDF Version)
  2. Proposal – 3 page limit
  3. Budget page
  4. Student curriculum vitae including average GPA standing

Proposal Deadline

  • Proposals must be submitted both electronically and in hardcopy format (signatures required only on hardcopy) no later than 4:45 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2010 to Tung-Shi Huang, Ph. D., 101C Poultry Science Building
  • Electronic proposals should be sent to Tung-Shi Huang, Ph. D as an e-mail attachment at huangtu@auburn.edu

Files must be saved as a single Adobe PDF file.

PROPOSALS WHICH DO NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES/FORMAT WILL BE RETURNED UNREVIEWED.
