Proposal Development
- Approximately $1600 is available for competitive distribution to fund this program in FY 2008
- Malone Zallen Graduate Research Fellowship: $600
- Nutrition and Food Science Graduate Research Award:1,000
- Students may submit only one application. This will be considered for both the above fellowships.
- Proposals are solicited from NUFS graduate students to fund research in the following disciplines: nutrition, food science, and hotel & restaurant management.
- The objective of this program is to encourage innovative research, enhance critical thinking, and develop grant writing skills.
- Proposals need to be developed with the concurrence of the graduate student’s Major Professor.
- Proposals will not be accepted from individuals who have previously held a Malone Zallen endowment.
- It is anticipated that TWO proposals will be funded for FY 2008.
Approximately $1,600 is available for competitive distribution to fund this program in FY 2008
Proposal Format
The required format for the proposal is given below:
- Margin: 1 inch - top, bottom, left, right;
- Minimum font size - 11 points;
- Double spaced, single sided 8.5 x 11 inch pages;
- Limited to a maximum of three (3) pages excluding the cover page and budget page.
The proposal text should contain the following items:
- Hypothesis;
- Goals and objectives;
- Approach/methods;
- Anticipated results;
- Significance;
- Time-frame.
Budget
Budget: one-half to one page simple budget; Budgets shall not include indirect costs.

Checklist of items that need to be submitted:
- Cover Page – 1 page limit with required signatures (available for download PDF Version);
- Proposal – 3 page limit;
- Budget page;
- Student curriculum vitae including average GPA standing.
Proposal Deadline
- Proposals must be submitted both electronically and in hardcopy format (signatures required only on hardcopy) no later than 4:45 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2007 to Ms. Alicia Pugh, Administrative Assistant, 101 Poultry Science Building.
- Electronic proposals should be sent to Ms. Alicia Pugh as an e-mail attachment at pughali@auburn.edu.
Files must be saved as a single Adobe PDF file
PROPOSALS WHICH DO NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES/FORMAT WILL BE RETURNED UNREVIEWED
