Research

CHS@AU faculty are committed to research and creative scholarship which contributes new knowledge to improve the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. They lead research programs at the cutting-edge of their fields; receive major research funding from government, industry, and the private sector; publish their work in the best journals; and present their research results at professional meetings nationally and around the globe.

Research interests of Human Sciences faculty are as diverse and wide-ranging as our academic programs. Human Development and Family Studies faculty engage in leading-edge research in such areas as childrenÕs social competence and early school adjustment, parent-child relationships, adolescent delinquency, transition to adulthood, family violence, and marital satisfaction. Nutrition and Food Science faculty continue to make great strides in enhancing the quality and nutritional value of food, improving food safety, identifying the role of nutrients in disease prevention and protection, and increasing service excellence in the hospitality industry.

By studying these and other critical research areas, faculty demonstrate their commitment to research excellence and to making a real difference in the lives of others.
