To promote women's philanthropy as a means of enabling the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University to enhance human well-being and improve the quality of life worldwide.

The Women’s Philanthropy Board of the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University was organized in spring 2002. The group is led by an executive committee of outstanding female leaders in business and public service who are committed to inspiring, educating and enabling women to:

  • Develop their full leadership potential

  • Achieve independence as financial donors and decision-makers

  • Serve as mentors for future generations of philanthropists

  • Broaden the base of financial support for CHS@AU

  • The WPB is committed to providing educational programs on the many facets of finances such as estate planning, stocks and bonds, evaluating real property, strategic philanthropy and other topics to enhance our economic well-being.  Each year, the Women’s Philanthropy Board hosts educational programs and seminars which enlighten women about finances, mentoring, and philanthropy.

The WPB Winter Board meeting is held each year in February and focuses on the business of the board and mentoring opportunities.  WPB has also hosted eight roundtable luncheons to highlight issues of financial and philanthropic concern.  Please click here to learn more about WPB’s educational programs.

The WPB demonstrates a commitment to philanthropy by awarding student scholarships, faculty awards, and by broadening the base of financial support for CHS@AU.  Since its inception, the Women’s Philanthropy Board has awarded eight WPB Annual Scholarships to CHS@AU students totaling $40,000.  These scholarships are full tuition awards.

In addition, the Women’s Philanthropy Board has contributed $85,000 to the WPB Endowed Scholarship.  To date, two CHS@AU students have received a full tuition, $5,000 scholarship from this endowment augmented by spendable funds.

In 2007, a WPB Annual Scholarship to Italy was awarded during the 5th Annual Spring Symposium.  This scholarship in the amount of $5,000 was given to a student who plans to study on the CHS@AU Ariccia campus.

The Women’s Philanthropy Board has also awarded three WPB Faculty Awards for $3,000 each to CHS@AU Faculty who foster the mission of WPB through teaching, outreach and research. Please click here to view picture of the WPB Scholars and Faculty Award recipients.

An integral part of the Women’s Philanthropy Board mission is to serve as mentors for future generations of philanthropists.  The WPB accomplishes this goal by developing and implementing activities to educate CHS@AU students and young professionals about planning for their financial futures and meeting their philanthropic goals.  Please click here for additional information on the WPB Mentoring program.
