The Nutrition Science Option provides students with a curriculum well grounded in the basic sciences with the practical application of the principles of physiology and biochemistry to the science of nutrition. The program is designed to meet the requirements for application to professional schools such as medical, dental, physical therapy, and other paramedical programs. This option also prepares students for graduate study in nutrition and other health-related disciplines.
"The nutrition science option was an appealing choice for me because it fulfilled the requirements for health and professional schools while at the same time, provided me with exposure to topics ranging from macronutrient metabolism and medical nutrition to diabetes, obesity and cancer. I also had the opportunity to participate in basic science research in the laboratory of Dr. Kevin W. Huggins. This proved to be an invaluable training experience as it affirmed my goal to pursue a career as a biomedical scientist."
